Adult Obesity

Obesity is a clinical condition in which excess fat has accumulated to such an extent that it can have a negative effect on health. It is often defined by the Body Mass Index (BMI) and in addition, by cardiovascular risk factors and other anthropometric indicators. Although etiology is still being researched, a large percentage of obesity is attributed to diet and physical activity. A small percentage is attributed to genetic predisposition or other diseases. Decisive factors, however, regardless of the presence or absence of the former, are social influences and various psychological factors.

Judging from our professional experience, obese people often appear to have health problems,
such as diabetescardiovascular disease and hypertension. Another key dimension of the problem is that feelings of shame and anxiety make these people introverted, isolating them socially resulting in them experiencing an emotional impasse.

Obesity is both a physical and a psychological condition, which is why obese people need comprehensive treatment. Nutritionally, the overall picture is assessed after a detailed examination of the medical history, eating habits of the individual, and anthropometric indicators by a collaborating specialized nutritionist. A plan is designed together with the individual exclusively based on their own needs and adapted to their own habits. On the level of psychotherapy, through individual or group sessions, individuals address issues such as negative body image, low self-esteem and self-esteem, management of beliefs and behaviors and the development of new skills. We work together on any resistance you may be facing to make the change that will guarantee you the permanence of the result.
