MARIA SAMIOTI

Maria Samioti was born in 1977 in N. Erythraia, Attoica. She started swimming at an early age and completed her studies at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.  She has a long-standing career in sports as she started working while she was still a student, in 1995, for different sports associations, training and health promotion facilities as well as in sports programs for young children holding various positions of responsibility.

It is due to this interaction with people of different ages and needs that Maria developed a keen interest in the psyche of the person and the manner this psyche influences the person’s physical health and personal growth. For this reason, Maria attends Systemic Appreciative Therapy training for Systems and Organizations in Counselling, Leadership and Education at the Systemic Therapy Center for Families and other Systems between 2004 and 2005. In 2006 she begins studying as a professional therapist at the Family Therapy Center (European Family Therapy Association) in Chalandri, Attica. At the same time, she worked in managerial positions in the supply of services and mass catering. Her main duties included effective management of the all business sectors and development, management and leadership of the personnel for the creation of an operational working environment as well as the profit maximization of the business performance.

After completing her studies at the Family Therapy Center (EFTA), Maria received her Master’s Degree (2011- 2012) and is professionally qualifies in Eating Disorders & Obesity by the National Center for Eating Disorders & Obesity in Athens and between 2014 and 2015 she completed a training course in Neuro Linguistic Programming at the Neurophysiological Training Center in Athens combining this training with her multidimensional professional experience. Between 2015 and 2016 Maria did a Master’s Degree course in Sport Psychology for Peak Performance at the Ashworth College in Atlanta, Georgia. At the same time, she works as a Counselor of Mental Health at the Greek Center for Eating Disorders.

Maria has also attended several professional training seminars: Mental Health – Psychopathology for children and Adolescents at SISMANOGLEIO- AMALIA FLEMMING General Hospital in Athens between 11/2017 and 7/2018, 100 hours in the Post- Training Business Program for athletes in Sports Sciences- Sports Psychology at the University of Peloponnese between 2/2015 and 6/2016, Training in NIG – Neuro-Imaginative Gestalting at the Counselling, Psychotherapy and Systemic Constellation Center in Athens in May and September 2014, Psychotherapy and Sexual Identity at the  Training and Research Institute for Systemic Psychotherapy “Logo Psychis” – Athens, March 2014, Addictions: New Substances, Behavioral Addictions, Comorbidities  in  ITACA – Greek department – Athens, between 19/2/2014 and 18/6/2014, Couples Therapy  at the Family Therapy & Therapy of other Systems Center in Athens between 03/2013 and 06/2014, Eating Disorders & Obesity in Children and Adolescents  at the Training and Treatment of Eating Disorders Center in Athens  in May 2013, Stress Management  at Ison Psychometrica, Athens In January 2010, Abuse and Psychological Trauma at the European Program DAPHNE III  – Athens, November 2009 among many others.

Maria has been running her own center as a Family Therapist. She has recently created weRelate, Center of Psychological Development in Nea Erythtraia, Attica,  providing counselling services to individuals, couples, groups and families as well as companies, organizations and family businesses, via the theoretical support of the Systemic Appreciative Approach. In addition, she provides counselling support to young athletes/ champions and their families offering psychological coaching as well as to mentally adult athletes/ champions and coaches of individual and team sports, and teams (in Greece and abroad). At the same time, Maria organizes seminars for the Systemic Approach, Eating Disorders, Body Image and Mental Training, in collaboration with private bodies.
